Who we are

R G Peate Funeral Services Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 08456923. Registered office: Cwm Derw, Eithnog Lane, Cyfronydd, Welshpool, Powys SY21 9ED. We trade from Calkirk Buildings, Salop Road, Welshpool SY21 7EG.

Before anything is agreed

We will give you a written estimate of the cost of the funeral you have chosen, showing our own charges and the fees we pay to others on your behalf, such as crematorium, cemetery, church and minister fees. Our prices are published on our price list.

If you change the arrangements, or if a fee set by someone else changes, we will tell you and give you an updated estimate.

Deposits

We do not ask for a deposit.

Payment

• Our invoice is payable within 30 days of the funeral.
• We accept payment by bank transfer or cheque. We are not able to take card payments.
• The person who signs the arrangement form is responsible for paying the invoice, even if the money will come from the estate of the person who has died.
• If you are waiting for money from the estate, a bank, an insurer or a Funeral Expenses Payment, please tell us. We will always try to help.

Late payment

If an invoice is paid late, we may charge interest at 4% above the Bank of England base rate, calculated daily and compounded monthly, and we may recover reasonable legal costs.

Fees we pay on your behalf

We pay third-party fees, such as crematorium and cemetery fees, ministers’ and organists’ fees and newspaper notices, on your behalf and pass them on at cost, without adding anything.

Flowers

We do not supply flowers. You order and pay for them directly with a florist, who delivers them to us. The florists we recommend each pay us a fixed fee of £15 for each funeral they supply flowers for, paid when they deliver. It is the same whatever is ordered, and our florists have agreed not to pass it on to families, so you pay the florist’s usual prices. You are welcome to use any florist.

If you cancel

You can change your mind about any arrangement. If you cancel, you will only be asked to pay for the work we have already done and any costs we cannot recover from others.

Pre-paid funeral plans

Where a funeral is paid for by a pre-paid plan, the plan’s own terms apply to what it covers. We will tell you before the funeral about anything the plan does not cover.

Complaints

If something is not right, please tell us straight away. Our complaints procedure explains what happens next.

Your information

We use the information you give us only to arrange the funeral and to meet our legal duties. Our privacy notice explains how.
