Arranging a funeral
Every faith, and none.
We will always ask, and never assume. Whatever your faith, your culture or your family’s customs, we will take the time to understand them and make sure they are honoured properly.

Church and chapel
Most funerals we arrange are Christian, in the Church in Wales, the Catholic Church, or one of the Nonconformist chapels, Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist and Independent, that are so much a part of life here. We know the ministers, the churches and the chapels, and the hymns people want to sing.
Services can be held in English, in Welsh, or bilingually, and we can arrange a Welsh-speaking minister or celebrant.
Non-religious funerals
A humanist or independent celebrant can lead a funeral that celebrates the person’s life without religious content, or with just a hymn or a prayer for those who would like one. Some families prefer to lead the service themselves, and we will help you plan it.
Other faiths and cultures
We are glad to arrange funerals for families of every faith. We work with your community, your imam, rabbi, priest or elders, so that customs are followed carefully. For example:
- Muslim and Jewish funerals, where burial is usually as soon as possible, and the washing and preparation is often done by the community. We will act quickly, and work with the coroner and the register office to avoid delay.
- Hindu and Sikh funerals, where the family may wish to wash and dress the person, take part at the crematorium, and later take the ashes to a river.
- Buddhist funerals, where there may be chanting, a period of stillness before the person is moved, and particular colours worn.
Tell us what matters
If something is important, a ritual, a timing, a person of the same gender to care for them, an object to go with them, please tell us when you first call. We will do everything we can to make it happen.
Other traditions
Military and service funerals with a standard or a flag. Masonic and lodge funerals. A farmer’s last journey past the fields they worked. A procession through the town. Music from a choir, a harpist or a brass band. Whatever your family’s traditions are, we will help you keep them.
Whenever you are ready.
If someone has died, please call us at any hour and we will come to you. For anything else, you are welcome to call, write or call in.
