Privacy notice
Arranging a funeral means sharing personal and sometimes sensitive information with us. We treat it with the same care as everything else we do.
Who we are
R G Peate Funeral Services Ltd (company number 08456923), Calkirk Buildings, Salop Road, Welshpool SY21 7EG, is the data controller for the information described here. What we collect, and why
When you arrange a funeral
Your name and contact details, the details of the person who has died, and the information we need to arrange the funeral and meet our legal duties: for example, the medical certificate, the registrar’s certificate, and your wishes for the service. This can include information about health and religious belief, which the law treats as special category data. We use it only to arrange the funeral you have asked for, because we need it to carry out our agreement with you and to comply with the law.
When you contact us through this website
Your name, phone number, email address and message, so that we can reply. The message is sent to our office by email, through our email provider Resend, and is not stored on the website. If you give an email address, we send you a short note to confirm your message arrived. To keep spam out, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real person is using the form.
While you write, your browser keeps a copy of the message in this tab only, so that nothing is lost if the page reloads. It is cleared when the message is sent, or when you close the tab.
The cost estimator and the wishes form
Nothing you enter into our cost estimator or our wishes form is sent to us. The wishes form saves what you write in your own browser, on your own device, so you can come back to it. You can clear it at any time.
Visiting this website
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to each page. It does not use cookies and does not identify you.
Who we share it with
Only those who need it to carry out the funeral: for example the crematorium or cemetery, the minister or celebrant, the register office, doctors and the medical examiner, the coroner where involved, and the newspaper or website where you have asked us to place a notice. If you ask us to introduce you to Golden Charter about a pre-paid plan, we pass on your contact details with your permission. We never sell your information.
How long we keep it
We keep funeral records for as long as the law requires and for as long as families may need them, for example to find a grave or arrange a second burial. Website enquiries are deleted when they are no longer needed.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, and in some cases to have it deleted or to limit how we use it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
